I love how this short centers a subject which is both topical and evergreen - and does so in such a unique way! David is a bit of a Jacob Marley, urging Andrew to change before it's too late. What a distinctive piece.

Whaaaaaat. Well, I won't sleep tonight. I don't know how you craft a successful horror play in ten minutes, but Chris Soucy sure does. And the twist that I thought would be the twist was NOT THE TWIST. There was A DIFFERENT TWIST. Five stars.

I wish all men had friendships like these! It's so important as you age, as this short play shows, to have friends to lean on and walk with you. I love how each of these three guys has his own unique voice and how you can see how much they care for each other, even through the jokes and nicknames - sometimes at the others' expense. What great roles for older actors!

Oh my gosh, this short is beautiful. I love how Deb Cole doesn't spell things out for the audience, but gives you just enough to understand the gist of the situation. Fran and Steven's dilemma is so relatable. We all wish we could contact our younger selves to give them a heads up or advice, but figuring things out on the fly as life comes at us is the way life is meant to be lived. I love this.

I feel FAMOUS. This delightful Zoom play is basically a documentary of a Playwrights Thriving meeting, but even if you don't know any of the people the characters are based on, this still holds up as a whimsically bonkers play - and it has the largest cast I've ever seen for a piece of Zoom theater, which only adds to its chaos and, I think, would make it tons of fun to watch. There's a lot of action going on, even despite everyone being in tiny boxes on a screen.

So beautiful and bittersweet! This short about how people enter our lives for a reason even when they're not forever-people is just lovely. I would love a sequel taking place ten years in the future, to see where Kenji and Ava ended up - and if they found their way back to each other yet again.

Big Norma Desmond vibes in this short play about a once-admired actress who has aged out of relevance. There were lots of delightful twists and turns I didn't anticipate, but I think my favorite thing about this is how I've heard Mary's sentiments echoed from the mouths of regular women I know who had the audacity to grow old. The struggle against aging into invisibility comes for women of all professions, and it makes this piece feel universal despite its specificity.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Arm's Length Romance (A Duologue)

The wit! There is some A+ dialogue in this short 4th-wall-breaking comedy about a casual relationship (perhaps TOO casual of a relationship?) which clips along at a perfect pace. What a clever, unique delight.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: ONE PERFECT DAY

What a poignant short. How do you summarize and honor and say goodbye to the person you have shared your long life with? This two-hander is beautifully written, simple to stage, and stays with you long after it's over.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: JACOB AND EBENEZER: A LOVE STORY (FULL-LENGTH VERSION)

This play! I love it. Jacob shapes Ebenezer into a man made in his own image and has the misfortune of living long enough to realize his mistake. I love this prequel's nods to the original story - especially the rattling chains sound effects, used to great effect - and the subtle shifts in both Jacob and Ebenezer's relationship and individual feelings of what's important in life from scene to scene. Most impressively, this play fits seamlessly into the world of the original story. Fabulous!
