  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: The Maltese Walter

Too much fun!! I love this short about a man whose superpower is he turns into a film noir character. All the little details are so hilarious and spot on, and the ending was one I didn’t see coming at all. What a clever, silly, delightful play.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Chute!

I love this short! It grabs you from the start and features two characters who feel so true to life- plus it manages to touch on a hard topic in a very deft way. What a lovely piece. This would be an (easy to stage!) audience favorite in any evening of shorts.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: The Suitcase

About two minutes into this short, Brigid Amos manages to convince you that you absolutely positively MUST KNOW what’s in the suitcase owned by these two fictional people you just met. A perfect example of suspense with an ending that pays off.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Kodak Shirley

Oooh I love this short. In only ten pages, it tackles racism in (and outside of) the photography industry in a unique way, providing a great vehicle for two female actors.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Don't Touch The Carrot Cake

This short is so much fun, and it keeps you constantly on your toes. First you think Hazel is the villain, but she quickly becomes the only one who makes sense. You think you understand what this baking competition is going to be, but you quickly realize you were very wrong. You wonder how this play can possibly end, and then it ends perfectly. What a ride. I would love to see this staged for that final moment of theater magic, and so I can laugh with others at all the descriptions of Betty’s family. A great piece!

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: TOADS!!! (an amphibious nativity play)

This play is the best kind of fever dream. It’s a nativity play, but with toads. And singing. It’s a hilarious, delicious pageant which will leave theatergoers wiping away tears of laughter, wondering what in the world they just experienced and where they can find more of Jill Blevins’s work. A hilarious depiction of how we create God in our own image with a slew of Toad facts to boot. Inspired!

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Bubba and Krystyl are Unraveling the Fabric of Reality and Playing with It Like a Ball of String (and we’re all kinda glad they are)

Cats really are in charge! I love this short play about cats influencing human history, trying to help us out -if only their mother would stop interrupting. So fantastically creative, and with each cat unique, this would be a blast for actors and a breath of fresh air in any festival of shorts.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Sock Puppet Fetish Noir

This short is the kind of play that I really wish I could see live. The physicality of the sock puppets adds an extra layer to the comedy, which is already rich and abundant! What a silly, silly play with a perfect ending. I love it!

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: You Need Nutmeg in Fishkill

This short play keeps surprising you. At the start, you think it will be about a typical 1960 nuclear family, but that impression quickly gets turned on its head, and there are many more twists and turns to come. There are so many visuals I’d love to see on stage, like the demon and the dad covered in blood. What a fun journey this play is!

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: THE SEVERED HEAD ATOP THE TREE HAS A FEW THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THE HOLIDAY

This short Christmas play is SO clever! I especially love the dynamic between the ornament and the cat, and listening to them argue with each other and try to communicate with the humans they live with - all while the humans have no idea, of course. This is a very original take on the debate between tradition and simplicity which crops up every December.
