  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Crackers for Christmas (A Reindeer Play)

Even Santa's reindeer get stressed out by the holidays! What fun to watch them try to pull off an Elfin Christmas celebration, even as things go wrong and become chaotic. I love how each reindeer has a very distinct personality, and I especially loved how Dancer never stopped dancing.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Please Exit the Horse

I would listen to these two Central Park carriage ride horses talk for a hundred more pages. I need a part two, to see Joel become a horse revolutionary and radicalize Linus, and to watch them both take down the carriage horse industry. I love this so much. It is sad and funny and sweet, and there's not a single unengaging moment in the whole thing.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Creche Wars! (Or Nursery Wars!)

Hahaha what in the world? I love this. Baby fights are comedy gold, but then when the babies begin plotting international assassinations, it somehow becomes even better. What's better than gold? Platinum? It becomes platinum. What a journey this short takes you on!

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Godfart

What a warm hug of a short!! We don't deserve our pets, and this play confirms it. I love the idea of all the very good boys and girls we've loved and lost watching over us on the other side. Too adorable. I love this.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer and Liked It

This short is so clever and such a joy to read. If I ever need a criminal defense attorney, I would totally hire Vixen. Her spin is unmatched! What a smart, funny take on public domain characters and the police force overseeing them (the PDPDDDD - as soon as I saw that in the character description, I knew I was going to be into this play. And I WAS.) What a good time.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Goats of Olympus Mons

This short play is so sweet! Such a beautiful exploration of grief, in particular the minefield which is that first holiday without a loved one. I love how much we learn of this father/daughter relationship in only 11 pages, and especially love the healing power of art. (Also, I had no idea what Olympus Mons was, so now I'm a more well-rounded person to boot.) What a lovely play.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Santa Noir

I love the PI John Pie series! In this installment, three spirits from Pie's past (plus Santa) try to get him to murder (moider) his creators. Repurposed song lyrics and plays on words abound. A silly holiday delight!

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Tender Chickens

This short play is unhinged. What a glorious fever dream, with amazing opportunities for physicality for the cast. So original, so out there, this would be the most remembered play in any night of shorts. Five stars, I love it.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: The Lipstick Effect

Towards the end of this one act, one character says, "I did not see that coming," and I was like, Girl, SAME. This play is a fun and funny look at the cosmetics industry and beauty standards through a Willy Wonka-esque factory tour, while making some real points to chew on throughout the comedy, and then there's a twist which gives you even MORE to think about. What a fun ride.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: trauma dumping

Based on the title, I thought this play was going to be a lot heavier than it ended up being. It's definitely intense, but there are some real moments of levity and some very funny jokes in this non-linear story about the grief that comes from losing both a loved one and your religion. The role of The Player is, in particular, an amazing challenge for a strong actor to show off what they can do, and the story keeps you on your toes until the end.
