  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Bubba and Krystyl are Unraveling the Fabric of Reality and Playing with It Like a Ball of String (and we’re all kinda glad they are)

Cats really are in charge! I love this short play about cats influencing human history, trying to help us out -if only their mother would stop interrupting. So fantastically creative, and with each cat unique, this would be a blast for actors and a breath of fresh air in any festival of shorts.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Sock Puppet Fetish Noir

This short is the kind of play that I really wish I could see live. The physicality of the sock puppets adds an extra layer to the comedy, which is already rich and abundant! What a silly, silly play with a perfect ending. I love it!

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: You Need Nutmeg in Fishkill

This short play keeps surprising you. At the start, you think it will be about a typical 1960 nuclear family, but that impression quickly gets turned on its head, and there are many more twists and turns to come. There are so many visuals I’d love to see on stage, like the demon and the dad covered in blood. What a fun journey this play is!

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: THE SEVERED HEAD ATOP THE TREE HAS A FEW THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THE HOLIDAY

This short Christmas play is SO clever! I especially love the dynamic between the ornament and the cat, and listening to them argue with each other and try to communicate with the humans they live with - all while the humans have no idea, of course. This is a very original take on the debate between tradition and simplicity which crops up every December.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Team Building: A Zoom Play

I saw a lot of lackluster Zoom theater during the pandemic. I wish this play had crossed my path instead! This short Zoom play is a DELIGHT. An all-staff virtual office meeting is underway with all the typical Zoom issues, but also the new guy is a serial killer. Too much fun. I adore this piece.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Sometimes, When It’s Night, I Run Through the Neighborhood Naked and No One’s Caught Me Yet

This short play is lovely. It centers two fabulously complex characters and explores gifts we can give each other that don’t cost a dime. What a great vehicle for two college-age actors.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: On Queue

The dialogue in this short is SO much fun. I love listening to these two have an awkward conversation while waiting in line. It flows naturally from one topic to the next, just like in real life, and just like in real life, emotions can change on a dime. This would be a very fun piece in an evening of shorts.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Did you do the thing yet, Joe?

This is madness. I love it. Art imitates life in this short as Joe is harassed daily as to whether or not he has done the thing yet. I love how it heightens, and after wondering how in the world this play could possibly end, it ended perfectly.

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: An Angel Comes to Brooklyn

Brooklyn gets a tarot card reading which sets some wheels in motion in this short piece. An engaging, easily staged two hander, this would be a great addition to any festival!

  • Lisa Dellagiarino Feriend: Come Back Right

I don't know how Aly Kantor does it, but she did it again. In this short, a woman brings her dead girlfriend back to life over and over, trying to get it right. The results of her efforts heighten perfectly each time (I was most delighted by the variation dealing with social security numbers), and the play manages to be the perfect combination of funny, scary, and sad. We learn the events that led to this woman needing/wanting to bring her dead girlfriend back to life, and then we're left with a crazy cliffhanger of an ending. Brilliance.
