  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Fight for Purity, A Radio Play

I don't normally go for westerns but this wonderfully carefree and funny piece was just brilliant to read and is sure to give you a giggle or two. Writing for radio can be a lot more complicated than writing for stage (as you lose the visual element) but I think the wonderful characterisation and dialogue more than makes up for that. I've always thought Jack Levine could craft a brilliant stage play, now I know his talent extends to another medium, a wonderful piece.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: SKATEBOARDS AND BLUEBERRY PANCAKES

This is a beautiful piece that says "you are never too old to enjoy life" and its portrayed brilliantly! The characters all have wonderful back and forth dialogue as they discuss what they want out of life and the way they choose to love it. However, although it gives you a giggle, this play at his heart is a wonderful story about love. Two people who love each other no matter what stupid things they do and as you watch them together you'll wish it was you. Heart warming and funny. Another example of brilliant writing by Jack Levine!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Out, Out Damned Bird!

When I first read the title it put me in mind of Lady Macbeth's "Out, Out Damn Spot" speach and I find there are similarities. The male and the female character both have different ways of approaching and acknowledging the problem at hand. The fact that once the bird is gone the female feels something that the male did not makes this a brilliant commentary on gender. I have never managed to master a 1 min play but I feel the writer has definitely mastered it here.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Ellis Island Ahead!

Being British, I had less of a knowledge about the influence of Ellis Island and the history it represents to the people of the USA. However, as I read through this piece I was educated and entertained by the stories and representations by the characters. the central narrator of the janitor was a lovely pin that held the whole piece together. I can see this piece being great for educational purposes in schools. This is a perfect place for those, who, like me see a great benefit in being educated as well as entertained.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Secret of Jarlsberg

Who knew the subject of cheese could cause such an escalation! This brilliant piece puts a lovely frame around the characters and gives you layers of subtext about what is causing the rifts in their relationship. The piece move along at a brilliant pace and brings you through the darkness and out the other side in a quick and witty look at how relationships can survive through the good, the bad and the cheese. Would be a great addition to any festival!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Deal - 10 Minute Play

Once again, I find myself eagerly leaning forward to know the outcome of one of Ryan's plays. In this case he builds the suspense regarding the relationship between the characters brilliantly and gives us beautiful twists in the story that will keep you guessing. Its set and written perfectly as a thriller and now all that needs to be done is for someone to perform it perfectly!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The One That Got Away

Hindsight is a beautiful thing that the playwright has captured perfectly in this piece. The characters of Rae and her future self are very beautifully created and will speak to an audience in regards to lost loves and mistakes made. This short piece is wrapped beautifully in wonderful dialogue and is sure to have an audience thinking and maybe shedding a tear in the best possible way!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Actress - One Act Play

This play oozed intrigue for me from the very beginning. I read through the cool and collected dialogue of Candace and Mrs Leigh being able to see them sat on the ferry. As the events unfolded and you realised the nature of these two women meeting I couldn't help but lean forward in my chair to see how it was going to end. From there the play just kept on giving with beautifully elegant twists that you can't help but 'oooooo' at. If this wasn't a play it would make a perfect play and white film noir. Brilliantly well done!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Fault Lines

Right from the very beginning I fell in love with the characters and the witty back and forth dialogue they had between them loving the biting witticism of Ginger in particular. As the play unfolds perfectly, as the reader you are invited into the world of these wonderful characters and you get to see how one event in their lives leads to 70 pages of wonderful dialogue and interactions. Sometimes there is the thought that full length plays are difficult to read through, not in this case! Read it, enjoy it and perform it because it needs to be!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Kiss

As usual the writer has constructed a brilliant piece of theatre that will have its audiences deep in thought and discussion. What you first take to be a simple celebration of the end of the war soon becomes an in depth analysis about gender roles, consent and the opinion of women in certain parts of society. You can't help but feel heightened emotions when observing these characters and their analysis of what happened at the start of the piece and how it reaches is thought provoking conclusion. I think for a performance, its a perfect combination!
