  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Not Backing Up, Not Backing Down

There is nothing better than the feeling of theate that makes you laugh and watching the escalation between these stubborn characters, first men and then women, over a parking space is a piece that provides just that. Initially John creates a relatable situation which audiences will be able to relate to and then, over 26 pages provides a brilliantly timed escalation which is sure to have the audience laughing out loud, just like it did me. The characters may not have names but the play is very believable as well as hilarious! Thanks for the laughs John!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Girl Who Could Talk to Birds

Gone are the thoughts of the Disney princess who can charm the birds down from the trees. Raphio makes quite an entertaining sidekick to Nora as she and Patrick try to navigate the trecherous world of love and attraction. Daniel has created a wonderfully funny world where the matchmaking is done by the animal sidekicks and in a brilliant way. Its a witty back and forth where some of the funniest lines are delivered in tweets, at least thats how I imagine the other side of the conversation. Its a wonderfully unique piece that would be great in a festival.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: All-Nighter (Tales From The Hill #2)

This play explores the lives of young people in a very real way. As I listened to Chip talk in a sad but beautiful way about why he chooses to envelope himself in far too much work it brought to my mind how hard it can be living away from home. Sam has created a wonderfully real character in Chip and his good friend Jessica. Between them they explore a spectrum of feelings that a lot of young people will relate to. I love this play for many reasons but mainly because it shows how important support can be.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Late

This is a wonderful example of a relationship evolving before your very eyes. I didn't read the tagline to begin with so the opening found me thinking "God this is the most horrendous first date ever!" that's the kind of wonderful realism Lawrence presents within his dialogue and it only gets better from there! As an audience you are privileged to watch these two friends explore their relationship, past and present through wonderfully realistic dialogue. Its a wonderful example of the human condition at work.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Christmas On Marinwood Lane

AWWWWWWWWWWWW! Such a beautiful and warm moment between two people shrouded in Christmas spirit! This is such a beautiful piece and for me what Christmas entertainment should be about, two people forgetting about the lousy stuff in their lives and focussing on just enjoying being with each other as well as where that will lead. It would make a wonderful piece for a festival or variety show around Christmas time as it sure to leave you with a lovely warm feeling inside.

  • The intense pressure when trying to have a baby is counterbalanced by the nurturing and love you see between Landon and Melody you see in this play. You experience an emotional journey with them as they try and accomplish their journey to parenthood. Audiences will relate to both the characters and the experience they are going through which is what makes this a great piece.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Borderline

The concept of immigration and how people feel about it has always been a complicated issue but here Randy Warren has explored it with a humorous angle and a wonderful twist. As an audience you are introduced to three unique characters with their own thoughts and feelings about this complicated topic. As the story unfolds and the brilliant twist reveals itself I couldn't help but smile, mostly due to the very witty back and forth exchange that occurs as a result. I won't say more for fear of spoilers but its a wonderfully written piece!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Just Like In The Movies

I had a lovely smile on my face when I finished reading this. I've never been one for Hallmark movies but I loved this. It provides a 'behind the scenes' look at how frustrating making movies can be as well as provides an emotional story line within the movie creation. However, like an addictive TV series, there is so much I want to know once the lights went down. Another expertly constructed piece of theatre by Joe Swenson and is sure to leave audiences with a warm feeling and a smile on their faces.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Twenty-Eight Percent Capacity

Wow! You can feel the intensity of the anger of the performance industry in this as Dylan and Jerome, debate how much their tour has/is suffering due to the pandemic. However, DC Cathro creates a brilliantly constructed twist. As a playwright/theatre performer I was all set to be on Jerome's side (as I appreciate his frustrations) but then Dylan makes a revelation about what the true cost can be of performances during a pandemic and that knocked me back on my heels! Its wonderfully constructed with an emotional rollercoaster and expertly timed twist, its a recommended read!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Last Spin Cycle

From the opening stage directions Hannah places a vision in your mind of the dank and darkness that creates the piece. From there you spiral through a series of wonderfully constructed images starting with the frustration of the two doctors trapped in each others company (with their frustrating habits). However, despite being trapped in this bleak situation, there still remains the ability within the characters to have a glimmer of hope as they create a means of escape between them. This is a wonderful piece that comes with waves of various emotions that will invoke your own imagination!
