  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Abort: The Mission

This has got to be one of the most powerful pieces about reproductive rights I have ever read! Lisa takes a subject that infuriates and breaks the heart and has created a wonderfully powerful story with brilliantly timed moments of comedy (which given the subject matter is incredible!) Lisa's characters are wonderful examples of the voices of women suffering as their rights (or the rights of their female friends and family members are taken away. Its brilliantly insightful and has you emotionally invested in what the story and the characters are saying. I had moments of smiles and tears!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Cake

So right from the tagline I needed to read this play and that theme kept going as I read. You are presented with two characters in a police station covered in frosting and then, as an audience you are invited to question and then discover what led to these events. The three characters have lovely connecting moments of dialogue both in heart-wrenching and humorous moments. An audience will be drawn into this play because they, like I, will want to know what happened to start and bond with the wonderful characters throughout, for me a perfect construction!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Cupid

Well its official...I want to punch Wes! Jacquelyn has created a fascinating and infuriating piece. The fact that I can see elements of our society in the way Wes talks to and about Cupid is heart breaking. "Cupid" is a piece that inspires conversation, draws out emotions and provides the audience with a snapshot of how closed mindedness and hate can affect something as beautiful as finding/being with your true love. It would make an amazing piece for performance and will definitely draw an audience in!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Fix it Quik Autoshop

Well...I didn't expect it to end that way! John has created a scenario that is sadly still witnessed every day, where a man doesn't think a woman has the skills to know what he's talking about. Not only does she 'fix' the issue with his car but she does it with wonderful humour. There will be moments in this piece that will make you laugh and an ending that will make you go "what just happened?" Accompanying all that, its a fascinating piece exploring gender politics with humour, wonderfully done.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: A Night on the Bridge

You know you're onto a winner when the opening stage directions are hauntingly beautiful! from there are you are introduced to a story that is the definition of how much one person can affect the life of another. Woman starts with expectations of what man wants but through the next 11 pages both characters have a wonderful journey of discovery, which as an audience member would be a thrill to witness. Its wonderfully written play that makes an impact as well as invites the audience to feel with its characters, brilliantly done.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Claire's Dilemma: A Strippers Monologue

As a drama student I was fascinated with the idea of 'hot seating' a character and the details you were able to uncover about their life. In this piece Ken draws his audience into Claire's life as she discusses the events of her life with the audience. Its a fascinating study of a character and exploration of her story. The greatest characters are the ones you can tell have been brought to life with the greatest amount of care and Claire is most certainly one of those characters. I believe audiences will find her just as fascinating as I do.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Gretal and Hansel, a one act grand guignol

So that's what would happen if Quentin Tarrantino directed a fairy tale! David has presented a gritty and violent twist on a well known fairy dale. Although definitely not family friendly, the piece leaves you with some well described (if gruesome) images and the whole piece is a terrifyingly fascinating twist. I would be intriegued to see how someone would stage this.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Snowing In November

We had the great privilege of reading this place at our Sunday night play reading. Jaxson has created a wonderful juxtaposition between those who love Christmas and those who don't! For me its proof that you are NEVER too old to love Christmas if you want to. Its a gorgeous piece and if it was even possible, it made me love Christmas even more than I already do!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Kurt and Orla : The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and the Princess Who Couldn’t Laugh

We had the great pleasure of having this play read at our Sunday evening play reading. Its a wonderful fairy tale with a twist! Rex, as is often the case, constructs this story with the audience desperate to know how it will unfold and then combines it with brilliant characters and a truly unique tale. I think it could work for both adults and children alike and that is the true mastery of Rex's writing. Its a story that fascinates, amuses and you will love to read!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Nine Ladies Dancing (a 4 minute comedy)

We had the wonderful pleasure of having this read at our Sunday evening play reading. Nora, as often is the case, has created a wonderful interpretation of this one line of a popular Christmas song. Wonderfully funny and wonderfully festive!
