  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Downstream

The world of adolescence is never an easy one, and the comparison that Debra makes between the journey of a teenager and the journey of a salmon is truly inspired. In one page I found myself rooting for the character, wanting him to make it through his journey successfully. Its another great example of the writer drawing you in and making you NEED to know more about their story...how will next year go?...will this salmon make it?...This piece is crying out for a young person to bring it to life!

A most intriguing look at the fact that you really don't know what goes on behind closed doors. The young lady in this monologue takes the audience on a journey through the troubles she and her family face, even though all appears perfection from the outside. She is a character whose story who could easily become a full one act play, that's how much Deb Cole draws you in to this story, all in the space of a page. A powerful piece for a young actress, brilliantly constructed.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Tarantula's Pet Frog

A hilarious combination of 'attempted seduction', 'survival of the fittest' and 'warfare'! As always Rex's plays entertain in droves with witty back and forth between these brilliantly constructed creature characters. This play would look AMAZING on a stage and can be appreciated by both children and adults alike. Once again, Rex produces a fabulous piece!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: INVISIBLE - A ZOOM Play

We had the great pleasure of reading this play as part of our Sunday night play reading group. Zoom plays a new concept to me and this was a brilliant example of one. I felt so sorry for Mrs Cooper by the end of this play and applaud Deb for making the parents look at themselves in the mirror and ask 'what am I teaching my children by behaving this way'. Coupled with this its also a great play that celebrates how wonderful good teachers are. Well done Deb, this was a fabulous play to read!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Temporal Physiques

Another great piece with time travel at its centre! Its a play that keeps giving and giving, you think time travel is just about murdering the villains of history or being there to witness historical events, but why do that when you can lose your Christmas weight?! Its a brilliantly funny piece that had me giggling right through!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Admission

Seems like the world of sainthood isn't all its cracked up to be, at least that's the impression John's brilliant character 'Nun' gives in her dry and wonderfully humorous opening speech in this piece. Moving through the piece the dry and scathing wit shown by 'Nun' is brilliantly done. Taking just her speeches would make a fabulous monologue piece but then John gives us a funny chaotic miracle moment involving a python! Just another example of how John creates wonderful characters that you want to believe in, be they saint or sinner!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Cost of Dying

Well, now that my heart has come back down by throat I can tell you what a brilliantly piece this is. From the very beginning I had soooo many questions and slowly, a trickle at a time John answers them. The play has a greatly timed pace to the point where you are dying to know what happened but you don't get to the end feeling unsatisfied. Its a wonderful piece loaded with tension and two brilliant characters. I could hear the panic from Walter and the calm voice of 'Man' as I read, wonderful for either stage or

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Fast and the Führer-Less

John Busser stacks this piece with chaotic moment after chaotic moment and, as you suspect, with the chaos comes the hilarity, even though the conversation topics are dark. At its heart, this brilliant play has the question we've all asked ourselves before 'what would you do if you had a time machine?' Well this playwright has created a truly brilliantly entertaining answer, which I think everyone should see!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Waters of Her Noblest Rivers

A common statement I make when recommending Andrew's plays is that he creates wonderful and very believable characters, and this is another example of that. The wonderful almost childlike mind of Charles as he questions the dangerous species of typewriter that has attacked him. Interlace that with the poignant conversations from the other two characters and you have a brilliantly constructed piece that won't fail to get you thinking.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Burning for You

This could stand as an interesting 'anti-smoking' advert. As I read this piece I could hear the sound of Win's soft and tempting voice drawing me in and then just at the right moment I'd realise, that was what she wanted. To have that feeling just from reading the piece is a brilliant achievement. Karen's pieces always leave you in shock and feeling like you've had the privilege of learning a lot. This piece was no exception and could be an amazingly strong piece for an actress!
