  • Christopher Plumridge: Lady Sings

I am in awe of writers who can create a back story for a famous character in history, and Rachel does just this in superb fashion in LADY SINGS. Billie Holiday was such a precocious talent, gifted beyond her own knowledge.

Most of us, if we're lucky enough, had a teacher or person in our early life who made such an impression on us that they helped to shape our future. I wonder what Ms Black would have made of 'Strange Fruit'?

    Rachel Feeny-Williams at her best.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Portrait of the Artist from the Perspective of his Pears, or Luscious Butts

A pear of pears discuss their appalling future? Sounds fun to me! In this short, fruity piece, we see two pears discuss their owner/artist but, slowly their own impending doom dawns on them. At least they will be preserved and not in a jar. A fun, short play with lots to say.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Linda's Donuts

As if being trapped in a dead-end job on minimum wage and serving stale coffee wasn't bad enough, these two employees' lives suddenly become worse due to a difficult customer. This is an excellent, heated, sometimes darkly funny which would be great to perform and I'd love to see it staged, but I'll pass on the Lindachino I think!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Movie Pit

THE MOVIE PIT is so relatable,I have seen such movies with my wife, I leave thinking they are the pits, whereas my wife always finds the romantic good in them. The relationship between this couple is spot on, they are close and romantic, this really is a sweet play and I'm sure they'll be watching many more trashy movies together!

  • Christopher Plumridge: butterfly play

BUTTERFLY PLAY is so very moving and touching! The hearts of Father and Daughter are as delicate as the wings of the butterflies in their frames, the story as colourful.
I would love to see this produced, there must be so many ways you could stage this, as the story is so stunning. Thank you Clarity for sharing this!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Ashes of the Revolution

I commend Mr Bray for this fine play with autism as its central theme, for he has handled this sensitively, including the note at the beginning. DeeDee is convinced that Russians are spying in his garden, and his sister does her best to quash his fears. This reminds me of the TV series ATYPICAL, screened here in the UK too. I truly think this play could be used as an Autism awareness show. (My wife works in care, with some who have autism and she agrees, she says it's spot on.) Very good!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Get-Together

I read this twice, the second time seemed so different to the first. I will explain. I read it first as a stage play, visually gruesome, tense, fierce. Secondly, I read it as a radio play, it became all the more terrifying, surreal yet horribly real. Many of Loras' lines are voiceovers, which makes this a clever stage and audio play in one. Producers will have a fun challenge to stage this!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Girl Who Could Talk to Birds

Hahaha I am so very pleased I stumbled on this play, it's brilliantly hilarious! We all need a Ralphio in our lives, a little bird to guide us in the ways of love. Nora's foul mouthed reaction to a certain bit of Ralphio's advice must be the funniest piece of script I've read in years! I would love to see this performed, the animals played by actors or puppets, either would be hilarious! LOVE IT!!

  • Oh, the power of TV and films! Aptly named Gayle stands out in a field with red sneakers waiting for the tornado to whisk her off to Oz. Thankfully, Big Sister is the voice of reason and tries to call her in. I didn't expect the big twist (pun intended) at the end. Great fun!

  • Christopher Plumridge: We Interrupt This Broadcast

This short play cuts right to the point in seconds. With so much gun violence in the USA, you can't help but believe this scenario could happen.
In so few words, Claudia has hit this home very hard. Chilling and excellent.
