  • Jennifer O'Grady: Wash Your Hands, You Moron

Terrific and funny/sad monologue from Hageman that speaks to our time and beyond, and will speak to all audiences and which I'm sure would incredibly satisfying to perform. I'd love to hear it performed right now!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: GONE TO THE DOGS, a 10-minute musical by Arianna Rose and Chandra McClelland

Arianna Rose is not only a gifted playwright but a gifted composer too, and this wonderfully unique and hilarious ten-minute musical about a frustrated yet cunning pet painter in Cuba combines Rose's many skills to terrific effect. I loved listening to Rose's music samples with lyrics by Chandra McClelland (found under "Supporting Materials"). This would be so much fun to see on stage!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: THE DECORATIONS DILEMMA ( from the CRACKED UP CHRISTMAS COLLECTION)

Polly saves the day in this witty short play about holiday decorations and the legalities of condo-living. Lermond has a gift for comic dialogue and funny situations, as well as a marvelously Dickensian gift for funny and evocative character-names. This would be terrific in any holiday fest.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Weaver's Wake (a monologue)

I love how Weaver uses stream-of-consciousness to spotlight those snowballing, panicky thoughts we all have sometimes in the middle of the night. This would be super-fun to perform, and the stream-of-consciousness allows for a lot of wonderful variety in how this monologue could be delivered. Would love to hear it!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: The Class of 2021

Affecting play about a father and his 12th-grade son trying to navigate the complexities of COVID and mask- wearing. Hageman is excellent at giving voice to teens and enabling us to see the world through their eyes. This is a play that could easily be done online, and which contains great meaning for our current difficult times.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: BLAME IT ON BARBIE, a four-minute comedy for two women

Rose has written a charming love-letter to theater with this lovely and funny short play which so many of us theater folk can no doubt relate to. Wonderful!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: EARTHWORM KID: A MONOLOGUE PLAY FOR AN ACTOR'S INDEX FINGER

I just love this unique piece for elementary-school-age performers. Kids would have a blast with this and the writing is so good. If you work with young kids, please grab this!

  • Jennifer O'Grady: Lady Liberty is Losing Her Vision (A Monologue)

The Statue of Liberty is personified in this smart and moving monologue which perfectly encapsulates the grief so many of us feel about the U.S., along with the necessity of never giving up. This is an especially terrific piece for an older female actor.

  • Jennifer O'Grady: The Long Haul (monologue)

A terrific monologue with a relatable (and authentically NYC!) character expressing her anxiety and fear of Covid in a wonderfully unique and deeply sad way. Perfect for our Covid-era time and beyond.
