  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Blackbird

This piece is truly a thing of beauty. Taking a horrendous time in our history and creating moment after moment of beauty/humour between the characters and in their surroundings is a great thing. The writer has really broght to life the experiences of this soldier and created a little light in an otherwise bleak time. A wonderful piece to read, even if I did have "Bye, Bye Blackbird" running in my head! Very well done!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Her Smile

A fabulously classic example of the "what ifs" we face in life. Michael's musings over the events of 'that evening' have you dying to know what happened by half way down page 1! Its a brilliantly crafted tale that could be so simply staged. Its the kind of piece that, while short, would have the audience on the edge of their seat asking "does he or doesn't he?" and that is a great crafted piece!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: I am Esmeralda

It takes a special kind of writer to bring a personality to a natural disaster. However, in this case the writer has created Esmerelda brilliantly and despite the undertone that we know all she will leave is destruction in her wake, you enjoy listening to her. I think it would make a great monologue for a student, its a new character and a new perspective. What more could you want?!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: SOWERS

Initially it was the "concepts she’d not heard before" in the description that drew me into this piece and I wasn't disappointed. What you are given are three brilliantly crafted characters with distinctive voices. The writer then takes these three characters and creates a beautiful story combined with elements of humour. It really is a lovely piece to read and would be simple to stage. Throughly recommended!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: THE SCALES OF DEATH

Always keen on an Irish accent I was drawn to his play immediately. In this piece the character's voices were brought to life in this intense story. I could almost see them on a blank stage with nothing else needed but them and their voices telling the story. I always like theatre like that because it doesn't need all the bells and whistles. It just needs a story that draws you in and characters who can tell it well, which is exactly what the writer has created here. I found myself holding my breath at several points.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: 2 Bdrm 1 Bath

This is a very relatable and wonderfully written piece. As someone who moved in with someone just before lockdown hit, I am very much aware how small a house can seem. The characters and their relationship is wonderfully explored and I can see this being a lovely film to watch where a lot of the audience will giggle, nudge their partner and go "that's you!".

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Sunny Side Up

With Zoom playing such a prominent role in our lives at the moment, this writer has created a piece that sits nicely in that. Coupled with funny dialogue and a tension that escalates brilliantly between the two well created characters I was definitely 'cracked up' at certain points (sorry! couldn't help myself). A very lovely and well written piece.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Casting

This piece points a hard finger at the world of Hollywood casting and how unfair it is. While there are some comical moments I think this is a truly great and revealing piece!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Isobel

Olly is a beautifully constructed characters. His simple mindedness and his gentleness really bring him to life on the page. You want to take his hand and lead him away from the tragic events in this piece so he can be safe! This is a truly wonderful piece of writing that has you feeling for the character and would make a strong audition piece for any young actor.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Miss Charlotte

Such a beautifully sad piece. The writer gives a clear vision of the speaker and her feelings towards Miss Charlotte. While the writer has written this is ideally for radio I believe the whole story of that family could be constructed into a full length piece that would be guaranteed to draw an audience in.
