  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Quiet Quitting

A phrase I've always liked "Never kill yourself for a job that would replace you tomorrow if you died". That is captured here in this piece in which David has taken the idea of how much our work takes over our lives and what that can mean for us. For me personally I was left with the desire to walk to Worker 1 and physically take him away from the computer and calmly explain "It will still be there tomorrow". Its a piece that will resonate with a lot of people and could serve as a well written warning!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Intrusive Thoughts

Utterly fascinating! Christopher has constructed a wonderfully intriguing piece in which a series of conversations are had about life, living it to the fullest and what that can truly mean. Each scene was more fascinating than the last as you discovered more and more about Jason, Katie, their life philosophy and what it meant. You NEEDED to know what was going to happen next when you got to the end of each scene, that is what will hold an audience and that's what this piece needs.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Bottle

This is a tale that provides darkness and beauty revolving around an unlikely friendship. The characters couldn't be more different and yet the way George brings them together and makes them a necessary part of each others lives is wonderfully done. The story keeps you guessing and draws you in as you wonder every step of the way about what's going to happen next. Its a great opportunity for two performers to make an audience laugh, cry and be enthralled all at the same time!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Carol: A Triptych

We read this trio of plays as part of our weekly play reading and they tell a wonderful story about a woman and how her life is morphed/changed through the various men in her life. Its a brilliantly constructed story that you can either read as one piece or as all three (I've recently re-read them but in a different order just to see how it changes things). Carol's world is one of complicated relationships and struggles which she perseveres through. She's an inspirational character and the whole collective is wonderfully written!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Promises, Promises

I had to pause and take a breath after reading this piece. Jaxson takes a beautiful and complicated relationship and puts it through the emotional wringer in twenty pages. Jaxson has done a wonderful job making this piece so relatable. Audiences will look at the relationship between Tyler and Max and be able to relate parts of their story to their own. The characters are wonderfully complicated (which I suppose they'd have to be for the relationship we witness!) and the story you see allows you to feel and see so much, its a truly emotional marvel.

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: When Your Step-Father Wants To Rule The Earth

Well they all say therapy brings out some interesting sides of us but Dana really reaches to new heights with this one. Any audience will be fascinated and amused as this therapy session unfolds and you start to question more and more about the figures you don't see until you get to the wonderful reveal. Its a great piece and would be wonderful to see on stage!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Best Friends

As you read the tale of Eddie and Danny, you are escorted as an audience through the complicated and yet well constructed relationship. The play has wonderful moments of comedy as the two men reminisce about their youth intertwined with complicated conversations about sex and sexuality. Eddie and Danny, two characters who present as incredible performance opportunities for two actors, have a friendship of intimacy but fragility at the same time and, as an audience, we get to witness both. Its a tender and well written piece that will have any audience appreciating the dear friends in their own...

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Tracks (or, The People Who Live Here)

Small-towns are rumoured to be places where 'everyone knows everyone'. Well by the end of reading "Tracks" I felt I knew so much about John's young characters and how their lives are shaped by addiction, the complexity of relationships and by tragedy. The play is loaded with heart-wrenching moments when I shed tears from reading! So there isn't a doubt in my mind that, given the chance to take to a stage, this play would have audiences being amused and devastated through this story of youth and the impact life has upon it. Truly wonderfully written!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Camp Mannuppia: An Alt-Masc Comedy

Right from the description of the staging of this play I fell in love! Its a wonderful piece to read so as a performance I can imagine it as a thing of joy. Outdoor theatre is a rare treat outside of the world of Shakespeare so I love that John has taken this great story of young people and their experiences and turned it into a wonderful piece of theatre. For me, it also made me feel nostalgic for my own days of Summer camp and the experiences I had there, which I daresay will be the same for others!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Whatever You're Having

The stereotype of break-ups is that its the woman who goes to pieces so I loved the fact that Jared has turned that on its head right from the beginning. From there you, as the audience see the truly horrible and heart-breaking experience Sam is going through. The character's display of human emotion and how much a relationship (or the end of one) can affect our ability to function as a human being is really incredible. You can't help but feel for them both as they reveal what effect Sam's break up has had on both of them. It's great!
