  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: A Ruby in a Sky of Diamonds

From the moment opening stage directions I knew this was going to be something special. Chris creates a beautiful moment that depicts how amazing one moment of human connection can be in your life. Its a piece that creates wonder about the world we live in as well as critical thought about our place within the world. That is what April is thinking about when she has, what I'm sure most will agree to be the most wonderful experience. I won't say any more because it is my firm belief this is a piece that needs to be experienced!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Florida Man

We had the great privilege of reading this piece as part of our Zoom Sunday night Play Readings and while I found myself shaking my head at how much of society is reflected here, I also found myself smiling and laughing right through. I've often found myself wondering 'can you really write a 1 minute play?' Well Deb has definitely educated me that you can write something funny that audience will appreciate and recognise as parts of our society, just genius!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Time to Laugh

YES! We most certainly do need to laugh and appreciate life more in moments of despair. The character here provides a wonderfully constructed argument as to why funerals should be a place of laughter in appreciation of the life of the deceased and laces that with brilliant moments of laugh out loud humour (and I did!). Appreciation for those we've lost and their lives is something I think should be embraced and Deb has explored this idea brilliantly with another fabulous character!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Zombie Homecoming

Noooo! I started this monologue with a lovely smile on my face and an appreciation for the speaking character and her best friend who want nothing more to play homage to their favourite types of film. The character expertly guides you through the story making you smile and laugh and then....

Well, I'm not going to say any more as you will HAVE to read this yourself but it would make such a wonderful audition piece, the power and the twist make it very much worth it on that alone. Brilliantly constructed!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: I'm a Cheater

Oh this monologue is so relatable, at least for me! I dare say many other audience members and actresses will find this monologue resonates with them. That horrible feeling when, despite studying so hard, your mind is just a horrible blank and then...the easy way out comes a knocking. As with all of Deb's monologues, she has gifted us with an wonderfully believable character in a scenario that I guarantee will resonate with audiences. Could make a great audition piece or performance for a student!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Murderer

Deb, as usual has created a wonderfully believable characters in this young woman who has made a decision I could never do, not to eat meat. Not only does Deb provide this character with a brilliantly funny life story with a perfectly constructed punchline but there were lovely moments when I found myself thinking, the use of elephants trunks in farming, the dark side of hotdogs and all sorts of other thoughts passed through my mind as this girl entertains her audience with this funny (although I'm sure it was horrific for her at the time) story, wonderfully done!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Candy's Christmas Wish (6-7 min.)

This play is a brilliantly non-traditional tale of Christmas. Right from the straight talking crass tone of Mrs Santa to the naive yet hilarious conversation with Candy. It had me giggling from very early on and I couldn't help but continue to giggle as Candy discusses her deepest Christmas wish. The two characters are wonderfully different and the whole piece has an edgier but still brilliantly funny tone. This piece is a great example of how not all Christmas tales are ones of toys and innocent joy but it more than makes up for it!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: A Christmas Bedtime Story

AWWWWWWWWWWWW! This is just...so beautiful! Peter not only has created a wonderful play about the relationship between a father and daughter but a fabulous story intertwinned with it. The story has wonderful word play as well as enough beautiful heart warming moments to thaw the biggest of Grinches! When you close your eyes you can see this wonderful story being told and the play has potential for not only one of performance but also one of audio as Peter weaves this wonderful story. Its a wonderfully festive piece with a beautiful moment, for me just what Christmas should be!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: The Crown versus Santa Claus

Only Christopher could take one of the most treasured representations of a festive time of year...and have him up in court! This is a wonderfully funny piece as this poor judge is commisioned to establish whether Santa Claus is guilty of straying from 'his time of year' and encroaching on October. Its a quick witted back and forth with each character funnier than the last and will leave you laughing with a wonderfully warm feeling. It also makes you question, how early is too early for Christmas? Another brilliant piece where Christopher has twisted Christmas in a wonderful way!

  • Rachel Feeny-Williams: Our Santa

So Jaxson had already tugged at my heart strings with his description of Colleen and only continued to do so through this piece. To me this piece was a wonderful commentary about what Christmas can mean to different people. The idea of spending hours buying expensive gifts for everyone in your family before the realisation of the fact its not about what you get on Christmas but who you spend it with. Jaxson balances this play wonderfully and personally I think there is the potential for this family's story to be told as a full length, wonderfully written.
