  • Christopher Plumridge: The Revenge Play: Or I've Never Met a Rachel Who Hasn't Fucked Me Over

Put crabs in a bucket and they may well fight to the death. Put three Rachel's into the words of an unseen typewriter and all hell kicks off! This is a clever, unique play full of high spirited interaction between the three Rachel's in question. Do they figure our what is happening, read it for yourself, it's great!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Next Time Portnoy Sneezed

This is a clever concept, protagonist meets their narrator, I wish I had thought of it! Portnoy wakes up from a nightmare straight into another, at least a very strange dream. Who is this intruder, how does he know so much, why does he want him to sneeze? Portnoys reaction to his narrator is hilarious in places, other times he's naturally very worried. I love this play!

  • Christopher Plumridge: WARRIORS

A family member of mine was a medic in the Gulf War in Iraq, he hardly speaks of the horrors he must have seen. In this short play, Doctor and patient have seen such similar scenes and lost ones close to them. Tyler tackles this subject sensitively and you feel at the end that there will be hope, for both. Hard hitting and very good.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Car Games

For the most part, this seems like a fun, banter fuelled road movie, the young couple playing games to pass the time, and the monotony of so many miles. Watching this, the audience won't know where they are going, but slowly and surely Cathro raises the tension. Then, the reveal towards the end is enough to choke anyone. It's really a beautiful piece.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Coming Out to Uncle Jake

Ha! This is a fun little conversation between mother and son, and Donald completely nails it with his very clever 'little twist at the end'. I would love to see Uncle Jakes' reaction later on!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The First Time (Monologue)

In THE FIRST TIME, the playwright carefully takes us into the innermost thoughts of one man, allowing us to hear his most guarded secret. We watch as a flashback to this man's childhood is bought back to mind by a timely encounter, and we're left wondering if he'll take that card out of his wallet and make a call. A great monologue!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Carter (A Monologue)

Just who or what is Carter? Well, it doesn't matter. For here, the author vividly shows us her characters' love and obsession for Carter, so much so that Carter's identity becomes irrelevant. Well that's how I see it. Clever stuff!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Wine, chocolate and GIFS (A Scene)

This short scene must have the best authors note ever: 'Have fun, make it a rainbow!'
Cora certainly makes their scene a bright colourful rainbow, both characters are wonderful and set their scene perfectly. I also like the way its unclear whether these two are actually together or remote. Great!

  • Christopher Plumridge: CUBIST RODEO CLOWNING

How do you recommend a play when the tagline does it perfectly! This is a fun short play, the relationship and banter between these three is quirky and hilarious. A great piece of CSJ absurdism!
Oh and.... water beds make me feel seasick, too....

  • Christopher Plumridge: Good Neighbors (from the THE WRINKLE RANCH AND OTHER PLAYS ABOUT GROWING OLD collection)

Ah, what a sweet two hander this is! Starting with long time neighbours arguing over the fence between them, we begin to see that there is even more between them. What possible solution is there? Buy a gate, of course! Read this lovely little play yourself to find out what I mean, it's great!
