  • Christopher Plumridge: Buy The Book

In this short play, the author expertly takes us back to the seventies (with a great soundtrack too!) not just with the characters dress, but in their language and culture. Oh how we've moved on since with the internet and social media, but these girls find themselves in a book store looking for a particular 'self help book'.
And the twist at the end is a delight!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Great Tinsel War of 1979

Haha, I love the use of the Academic who guides us through this terrible Christmas conflict! The notes they come out with the resulting future are hilarious yet scarily believable!
I am now thankful to my stance of letting my wife decorate the tree each year and smile while congratulating her on a good job done, for I have avoided such conflicts and time stopping academics wandering in! Great fun!

  • Christopher Plumridge: DATE NIGHT?

I have always had issue with Men who hold, or guide, or clasp women in this way, sadly we see it all too often. Emma tackles this 'control' in a unique way, having the actors in the audience before the show opens. I'm sure when staged, some spectators may well believe this is happening for real, such is the skill in the author's writing. An excellent opener.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Save Some Room

What starts as a seemingly innocent enough blind date turns its tables dramatically near the end. All through this piece, I could see where it was going, how very wrong I was!
    A fun two hander.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Puddle Jumpers

I'm not one for musical plays really, but this one caught my eye. I strongly recommend you click on the accompanying link and listen along to the great recording as your read. This play perfectly encapsulates our childhood anguish of having our homework ruined by rain while waiting for the bus. As with many short plays, I believe there is so much more can be done with this piece, the music is catchy and would surely be an audience pleaser! I'm singing in the rain, what a glorious feeling.....

  • Christopher Plumridge: Whack! (The Irresponsibility Play)

Haven't we all at one point or another stared at a blank screen with a void mind? This is what happens to Jack until WHACK, then some inspiration from some successful playwrights, (plus negativity from one) sets Jack back on his way. There's some good lines here we can all do with listening to. This would be fun to stage too. A sweet notion.

  • Christopher Plumridge: CONTRAPPOSTO

Oh, how I wish this were true! Poor Sandro as he tries to paint the goddess of love when all she is doing is arguing for rights he has no idea of, and that are way after his time! After reading this, I spent time looking at the painting. Yes, that is an odd pose on one foot. It's a brilliant short play which would be great fun to stage!

  • Christopher Plumridge: HOLLYWOOD HILLS

This play takes you on a mini road trip as these two actors are lost at 2am, while trying to make it to a party.... seems innocent enough? Yes, until two-thirds through this story, it takes on a very dark twist, reminiscent of I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER. Missy and D are in a lot of trouble.... Great play!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Mummy and Me

Ah, this is such a sweet, fun, short play! I couldn't help but be reminded of Mr Ed the Talking Horse, such as was their witty banter between them. Also it would be a fun trick to play on the audience, by having mannequins dressed as mummys on othe platforms, only do one to come to life! Love it!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Clockmaker's Gift (ten-minute play)

Ah, such a sweet, fun, yet sad meeting in a loft between a chardonnay swigging lady and an ancient clock maker - well that's certainly unique. I love the interaction between these two contrasting characters in his, no hers, no, their loft. But in the end a fitting compromise is met and lessons learned. THE CLOCKMAKERS GIFT truly is a unique play which would be lovely to see staged.
