I'm really impressed with Swenson's work in sharing this story, which is engrossing and powerful. Thank you for sharing such a personal and compelling story.

Powerful, brave storytelling that's both engaging and horrific. It's clear this comes from a truthful place.

  • Jeffrey James Keyes: We Are Children.

I'm really struck by this piece and the subtext and powerful depth to this work. I feel like it's a director's dream. The writing is beautiful and subtle but it's rich in storytelling, the way Green laid out this script feels like choreography on the page. Well done!

  • Jeffrey James Keyes: Trash

I've been a fan of Kate Mulley's writing for some time and I'm an even bigger fan after reading this play. Once I started reading Trash I couldn't put it down. Mulley's storytelling is engrossing and leaps off the page. I love the structure and the way she utilized time passing to reveal character and build a case against the charming (and predatory) Mr. Cooper. I'd really love to see this play up on its feet and onstage. Excellent work, Kate!

  • Jeffrey James Keyes: For the Benefit of Jimmy Mangiaroli

That lousy Jimmy Mangiaroli! I was cracking up constantly throughout this stellar two-hander. Billy and Ma's conversation is lively and timely for this nutty time we're living in. Reading this was a breath of fresh air, I can only imagine seeing it live on stage, or in an evening of Zoom plays. O'Day is clever, witty, and masterful at constructing strong dialogue that grabs your attention. Well done!

  • Jeffrey James Keyes: Chantel’s Dilemma

Wow! I just watched the Negro Ensemble Company’s reading of this short and was blown away by this poignant and necessary work. This is a play for our time and a must read for anyone looking for a drama about the challenges of the health (and mental health) crisis we’re currently in.

  • Jeffrey James Keyes: 3 Echoes

This is a fantastic play by a really talented writer. I was immediately engrossed in the world of these women and thought the pacing, dialogue, and storytelling were all exceptional. While I think this is a powerful short, I think an expanded longer-form exploration of these women would also make for an engrossing evening of theatre. Well done, Chima!

  • Jeffrey James Keyes: Out of Body/On a Train

Out of Body/On a Train is an extraordinary new play that's going to sit with me for a while. Moughon really illuminates her strengths as a powerful dramatist with this short piece. Well done.

  • Jeffrey James Keyes: Too Old

I love a Halloween play, and Moughon really packs a punch with this well crafted short. This is a perfect play for a festival of Horror or Halloween-themed plays. Well done, Erin!
