  • Christopher Plumridge: Say Something Shocking, or The Spit-Take Play

Hahaha! I love this! And being rather British myself I can perfectly picture this as a 'Two Ronnies Sketch' !
This would be so much fun to stage, where the actors have to sip, and therefore spit, their afternoon cuppa-tea. I pity the stage hand who has to mop up.
    Brilliant!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Pandora's Box of Donuts

Having lived with someone who has had depression looming over them (currently at bay, thankfully) I can truly relate to Cal in this touching two hander. Like a true friend Cal choses a light hearted but caring approach, with a bit of teasing along the way.
Depression can lock out the ones you care about the most, it is evil in it's power, but here Call finds their own way to keep it at bay.
This is an important subject to highlight, and I applaud Kantor for succeeding in this so well.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Guilt by Association

I mirror what Morey Norkin says in his recommendation, Baker has a gift for bringing the reader or audience effortlessly into a chosen time, and you can practically see yourself sharing a beer with father and son. As their natural conversation moves along, deeper feelings emerge. This is where I was taken by surprise, I expected father to be dead set against the matter at hand, but no, this playwright is far sharper than that.
This is an excellent two hander with real depth.

  • Christopher Plumridge: "Guten Tag, Baby!"

In just 15 minutes this play takes as many twists and turns as the Route 66 it's set at.
I love plays which flirt with the past and bring in characters in almost ghost form, but to one character are clearly present.
Then the revelations come, hard hitting and upsetting, but love, in all its mystical ways, shines through.
I'd love to see this staged.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Reflective

Standing face to face with her own reflection, young Tayla questions her insecurities if her body, her actions and her peers.
It's tender, sweet and moving... and the last line is inspiring. A great role for a young actress.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Something True

Oh the truth can hurt. That's nothing new. But here the truth means something far different and one of these two lovers is left flummoxed by the demand for truth.
This is clever stuff, and I admire the playwright for not defining the sex or sexuality of each lover, leaving the production so many variables.

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Archer

This is a fun retelling of a rivalry between sparring poets Byron and Keats. The modern day banter interspersed with their traditional language is slick and clever.
This would make a great piece for two aspiring actors to get their teeth into.

  • Christopher Plumridge: Zoning Ordinances

What a wonderful, brilliant idea to bring two such bad guys of fairy-tales together and have them discuss building permissions!
Sprinkled through this fun little play are subtle jokes and references to a few said nursery rhymes, so I had a wry smile on my face while reading this.
    Great!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Marietta's Ultimatum

I do admire a playwright who can just look at a painting and create a whole back story about it's creation. MARIETTA'S ULTIMATUM is such a fine example of this, the model quickly comes to life, as does her suiter and of course the artist.
Rex paints a wonderful picture here in this short play, the interaction between artist and model is as priceless as the work of art itself!

  • Christopher Plumridge: A FINGER POINTING

It's incredible (and very saddening) how quickly unnecessary arguments can spark up over nothing. Here just between two headstrong men, but also between nations.
Here the playwright delivers a tense and slick meeting of minds along with the peace keepers trying to keep things calm.
    An excellent short play.
