  • Christopher Plumridge: Make Way

MAKE WAY is disturbingly sad as we watch such literary classics being burnt before our eyes and removed from history and existence. The writer paints this scene in a strangely relaxed way, which makes the whole idea even more sad. I couldn't help but imagine young Liesel, The Book Thief lurking in the shadows waiting for them to finish their shift. Can this horrible piece of history be allowed to repeat itself? I hope not.

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Somewhat Modern Fairytale

As too many cooks spoil the broth, too many narrators can spoil the story! I really enjoyed this short play, mainly for the banter and disagreements amongst the three narrators, but also the characters bemusement as they try to act out the scene. Great fun!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Little Red Handed

This is a dark, twisted, original and totally hilarious take on life after the Red Riding Hood story...and right up my street! Funny throughout, slick too with some great lines and twists. I love the way both characters look to the audience after referring to 'The Mauling' ! I needed this laugh on a Monday morning, brilliant!!

  • Christopher Plumridge: First Draft

I would question any writers ability to write a play every day for a month, but once again Rachel has proved me wrong! This is a funny, gripping, entertaining and unique look into the characters we write, and what they might get up to when we're not around. I recommend this play thoroughly and I'd love to stage it!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Gun Safe

As a Brit we have very little gun crime here, but we are all to well aware of events in the USA. O'Day paints a very important, vivid picture in this play, with as many destructive layers as the volcano model featured within. Teachers have so much responsibility, a gun in a safe in their classroom should not be one of them! This is a must read!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Teaching a Lesson

Oh my, Mr Riley does find himself in quite a predicament in the hands of a fellow teacher! This is a clever short play, as Michelle has her captive cornered and powerless she explains her motives. But what I find intriguing with this piece is, what if she's wrong? Very tense and gripping!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Belle, Ex-Wife of a Beast (monologue)

This is a fun, fast paced take on a traditional fairy tale. In such tales we rarely get to understand just how the princess feels, but here Jennifer gives us a peek into the mind of Belle as she figures out where her life is going. A great monologue for an actor to get to grips with.

  • Christopher Plumridge: This Year's Model

Oh Amana is so cold yet so very funny in her desperation to ditch her old model, in this case her husband! In a wasteful, throw away culture we live in now perhaps it's best to remember what is most precious to us, but apparently this is not the case for Anana! I also admired the doctors patience throughout. Very dark and funny!

  • Christopher Plumridge: The Taking Tree

The simple writing of a family tree stirs up so much sadness from previous generations, you can't help believing how Max must feel. But as with all such repeated events in life, they can, if you're strong enough, be overcome. Very cleverly written, I was drawn in quickly as will any audience will be. Excellent two hander!

  • Christopher Plumridge: Renaissance Man

This is a fun yet real look at life in lockdown, being forced to stay home so much that home becomes a prison. So Gerald takes up some hilarious hobbies to keep him busy, with great comic effect. I'm heartwarmed at how this couple pulled through those tricky times of forced togetherness. Sweet!
